About Us

The West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT) was founded in 2012 as a regional enclave of Society of Toxicology (SOT), concerned with a multidisciplinary organization of professional from diverse backgrounds. The society cross-cuts from Natural science, social science, medical science, clinical science, and even to computational science. The main aim of the organization is to ensure the safety of chemicals, drugs and poisons. And also, the environmental impact of exposures of these chemicals, whether in our foods, water, environment, cosmetics, gadgets and electronics.

The West African Society of Toxicology is an international organization of toxicologists, including professionals as well as students and trainees in related fields. The organization's mission is to create awareness of existing and potential toxicological issues that constitute hazards for populations and the ecosystems on the West African continent. The Society will strive to promote human health and a safe environment through research and education. Members are available to share their specialized knowledge with government, industry, and non-profit or non-governmental organizations (NGO).
